A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

What you’ll be doing

The Information Security Operations Analyst is responsible for monitoring the controls and executing the processes which allow Virgin Australia to detect and respond to information security incidents. Reporting into the Security Operations Manager, you will work alongside two other Analysts. This is a 'generalist' security position, where you will gain exposure to a wide variety of security areas. You will enjoy using and learning our modern technology and security controls.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and execute operational security processes to respond to incidents in line with VA (Virgin Australia) policies and standards.

  • Work with the Managed Security Services Provider to support 24/7 security monitoring. You must be available to take calls outside of business hours (overtime pay is offered in these instances). You must also be available to come to our Brisbane head office at short notice, if a large incident occurs
  • Perform incident response and internal investigations in support of the People Team as required
  • Provide input into metrics and detailed reporting on security events and changes to security risk profile
  • Maintain security technologies appropriate to the VA environment and security control requirements
  • Implement incremental improvements to the technical security controls and processes to enhance the defensive posture
  • Support external partners to carry out regular penetration testing of the VA environment
  • Support compliance reporting and audit processes as required
  • Support the Security Operations Manager as required
  • Seek and maintain productive relationships with relevant business stakeholders to ensure internal and external customer centricity drives all decision making
  • Constantly review customer and stakeholder feedback to ensure solutions and strategies continued to deliver required outcomes
  • Work with the broader Information Security Team to raise the maturity of VA’s information Security

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Minimum 2 years' experience within a corporate Information Security environment is desirable. However, we will also consider candidates with a few years technical experience in IT/Engineering, provided they have strong willingness to learn and can work in an ambiguous environment
  • Experience monitoring and identifying security risks and threats.
  • An understanding of common adversarial techniques and procedures based on frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK
  • An understanding of prevalent Microsoft attack surfaces in Active Directory and Azure
  • General awareness of the common security tooling like SIEM and EDR
  • Experience with the operation of security controls to address risk and emerging threats
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to credibly represent the SecOps team, communicate risks and influence stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate thoughts clearly and at times, make calculated recommendations based on limited available information
  • Strong knowledge of industry trends
  • Skills in conducting incident response and investigations
  • Must be available to take urgent calls outside of hours and come to the Brisbane head office at short notice
