What you’ll be doing:

The Head of Consumer PR, Social Media and Events is a senior leader within the Virgin Australia organisation with full accountability for developing the objectives and the overall PR and Social Media strategy to drive positive reputational impact, brand advocacy and key commercial outcomes. 

The role will also be responsible for providing communications counsel to the Executive, Group and Senior Leadership teams on key matters that may impact business reputation. 

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Have 10-12 years experience in senior leadership across consumer PR, social, role, within a large and complex consumer facing organisation 
  • Have a communications or similar discipline degree  
  • Come with content and social expertise across all social platforms 
  • Are highly experienced with crisis Management within a regulated and complex operating environment 
  • Are comfortable with media and Issues Management 
  • Can develop C-Suite Communications strategy for consumer PR 
  • Have experience with high profile public facing brand ideally within aviation/travel/tourism experience   
  • Are comfortable supporting communications for large-scale organisational change 
  • Have strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills  
  • Can deliver campaigns including activations and PR initiatives to drive brand health and growth for the business  
  • Have strong judgement and attention to detail, particularly in short timeframes 
  • Are comfortable being a media Spokesperson and have exceptional media relations capability
  • Can manage multiple projects at the same time 
  • Are a natural at building positive relationships and cross-functional teamwork to develop win-win partnerships 
  • Have a commercial mindset with the ability to balance strategic and tactical  
  • Can manage competing commitments and multiple tasks in a fast paced and issues rich environment 
  • Have confidence, credibility and personal presence sufficient to establish and maintain working relationships with senior executive leaders 
  • Have outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence at a senior level, drive engagement and articulate complex concepts and presenting compelling arguments.   
  • Are a strong People Leader
