The role:  

The objective of the Web Optimization Specialist role is to help coordinate the end-to-end digital optimisation process for the website, ensuring commercial targets are realised alongside test velocity, whilst ensuring tests solve customer pain points and improve NPS. Working closely with the Web Squad but sitting in the Virgin Australia Test and learn program, this role will identify commercial test areas, ideation of test backlogs, prioritisation of roadmap (commercial and digital) and sequencing through to commercial analysis, insight generation, EBIT impact, presentation of results to exec leadership and codifying results centrally. 

In addition, you will:  

  • Develop and update a sequenced roadmap collaboratively, including ideation and prioritization. 

  • Coordinate with key stakeholders, like the Web PO, to manage the sequenced plan in the squad backlog. 

  • Review feasibility of tests in the backlog with stakeholders. 

  • Create and manage test tickets in Jira, including detailed test briefs. 

  • Conduct thorough pre-launch QA testing. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve design, legal, or technical challenges during experiments. 

  • Manage the scaling and graduation of experiments. 

  • Organize and facilitate workshops and weekly meetings. 

What you need to be successful:  

  • Graduate qualification in business, marketing, digital, technology or related disciplines. 

  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS. 

  • Proven experience in building, measuring, and implementing a digital optimization roadmap. 

  • Knowledge of testing methods for web development, including functional and unit testing. 

  • Skilled in using digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Target). 

  • Experience collaborating with customer insight and research teams to understand customer needs and behaviours. 

  • Background in user experience design and ability to coordinate with UX/UI and Product Teams to bring test ideas to life.  

  • Basic statistical skills for conducting A/B tests and understanding revenue and conversion models. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ability to create impactful presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, based on data insights. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills. 

  • Keen attention to detail in data quality and reporting. 

Desirable but not essential:   

  • Post-graduate qualification or industry-relevant certifications in marketing, digital, design or technology.  

  • Web optimization experience. 

  • Familiarity with agile, lean, and design-led methodologies. 

  • Understanding of project management principles and methods. 

  • Proven knowledge of business process management. 

  • Proficiency with building and automation tools, as well as web performance techniques such as image optimization and minifying CSS and JavaScript. 

  • Experience with CSS pre-processors like Sass and LESS. 

  • Competence in version control, preferably with Git. 

  • Experience in multivariate testing (MVT) for optimization.
